Fifth-ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (9-9) made lots of trouble for second ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (15-3) on Friday. The visitors from Hermosillo managed to secure only one-point victory 90-89. However their fans expected easier game. The best player for the winners was Jordanian-American swingman Jamal Abu-Shamala (196-87, college: Minnesota) who scored 27 points. The former international forward Jesus Lopez (205-83, college: SW Baptist) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Abu-Shamala is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Venezuelan forward Jermaine Walker (198-77, college: Miami, FL) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) added 19 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cananea. Fuerza Guinda Nogales at the other side keep the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Culiacan. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play again at home against the league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo (#2) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
