There was no surprise when 16th ranked Mazzeo San Severo (6-21) was crushed on the road by thirteenth ranked Tezenis Verona (10-17) 85-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Tezenis Verona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mazzeo San Severo to just 7 points in second quarter. Tezenis Verona dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Mazzeo San Severo's 18 and made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Mazzeo San Severo 40-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mazzeo San Severo was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was international power forward Andrea Renzi (208-89, agency: Players Group) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian guard Antonio Porta (188-83, agency: Players Group) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Five Tezenis Verona players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Randolph Childress (190-72, college: Wake Forest) who recorded 13 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Fabio Zanelli (196-76) added 17 points respectively. Tezenis Verona moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Trenkwalder and Assigeco. Mazzeo San Severo lost fifth consecutive game. Mazzeo San Severo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with 21 games lost. Tezenis Verona will face league's leader Fastweb CM in Casale in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mazzeo San Severo will play at home against Fileni BPA (#9) in Jesi.
