Ninth-ranked Optima Gent (4-21) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Base Oostende (14-11) on Saturday. The visitors from Oostende managed to secure only one-point victory 71-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 1 point. The winners were led by American guard Matt Lojeski (198-85, college: Hawaii) who scored that evening 21 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Marcus Faison (196-78, college: Siena, agency: Lanshire Group) supported him with 17 points. Even 17 points and 4 assists by international guard Lionel Bosco (176-81, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for Optima Gent. The former international guard Domien Loubry (186-85) added 14 points for lost side. Optima Gent's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Base Oostende have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Optima Gent lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Base Oostende will meet at home Belgacom Liege (#8) in the next round. Optima Gent will play against Leuven Bears and hope to secure a win.
