Regular Season Round 18: Tepic - Mexicali 86-92

Date: April 9, 2011
Very expected game when 10th ranked Coras de Tepic (2-16) lost at home to fourth ranked Bomberos de Mexicali (10-8) 92-86 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 27-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Bomberos de Mexicali made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bomberos de Mexicali made 7 blocks. American guard Michael Gale (193-82, college: Centenary) notched 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international power forward Hugo Carrillo (205-83) supported him with 16 points. Even 37 points (!!!) and 6 assists by American swingman Cleotis Brown (198-77, college: Illinois, agency: Dream Team Management) did not help to save the game for Coras de Tepic. His fellow American import forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: Dream Team Management) added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Bomberos de Mexicali have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-8 record. Coras de Tepic lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Bomberos de Mexicali will meet Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#6) on the road in the next round. Coras de Tepic will play against Frayles de Guasave (#3) and hope to secure a win.
