There was a surprise result in San Sebastian where fourteenth ranked Lagun Aro GBC (10-19) smashed higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (16-13) 90-67 on Saturday. The game without a history. Lagun Aro GBC led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Lagun Aro GBC shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Andy Panko (204-77, college: Lebanon Valley) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Javier Salgado (180-80) chipped in 18 points and 8 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Lagun Aro GBC players scored in double figures. British forward Joel Freeland (208-87) produced 26 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky, agency: SportsTalent) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lagun Aro GBC maintains fourteenth place with 10-19 record. Unicaja Malaga at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Lagun Aro GBC will face higher ranked Gran Canaria 2014 (#6) in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
