Regular Season Round 21: MIA Academy - Armia 72-81
Date: April 9, 2011
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Army Sport Klub (#1) and MIA (#4). MIA was defeated at home 72-81 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. MIA was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 29-15 charge of Army Sport Klub, which allowed them to win the game. They made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game. MIA was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international guard Kote Tugushi (192-84) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. Center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American guard Troy Cotton (185-88, college: Wisc.-Green Bay) answered with 17 points and guard Beka Tsivtsivadze (190-89) added 11 points and 7 assists in the effort for MIA. MIA's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Army Sport Klub have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Army Sport Klub maintains first place with 17-2 record. MIA at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Army Sport Klub will play against Energy Invest (#7) in Rustavi in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. MIA's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Sokhumi.
