There was an upset in Madrid where higher ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (16-13) was defeated by eleventh ranked Asefa Estudiantes (15-14) 87-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Asefa Estudiantes. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada was better in second period 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Asefa Estudiantes dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's 34. The best player for the winners was American forward Nik Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Priority Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Albert Oliver (187-78) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Mexican power forward Gustavo Ayon (209-85, college: San Jose St., agency: Duran International) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Xavier Rabaseda (198-89) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Asefa Estudiantes moved-up to tenth place. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Asefa Estudiantes will face Cajasol (#13) in Sevilla in the next round.
