Very predictable result when second ranked Panathinaikos (23-1) rolled over 11th ranked Ikaros (9-15) in Athens 92-70 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Ikaros managed to win fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Ikaros only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Ikaros 37-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by the former international forward Antonis Fotsis (210-81) who scored that evening 12 points and international swingman Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) supported him with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Lans Harris (195-83, college: Kansas St.) did not help to save the game for Ikaros. The former international guard Giannis Kalambokis (195-78, agency: FCM) added 14 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panathinaikos have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 23-1 record behind leader Olympiakos. Newly promoted Ikaros dropped to the tenth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Panellinios.
