Regular Season Round 21: Guasave - Nogales 99-80

An interesting game for Frayles de Guasave (12-9) which hosted in Guasave 4th placed Fuerza Guinda Nogales (11-10). Third ranked Frayles de Guasave had an easy win 99-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fuerza Guinda Nogales. Frayles de Guasave dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Fuerza Guinda Nogales' 48. Frayles de Guasave looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Fuerza Guinda Nogales' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Frayles de Guasave made 8 blocks. It was a good game for American guard Rasheem Barrett (196-87, college: Auburn, agency: SportsList Inc.) who led his team to a victory with 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Funn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Frayles de Guasave's coach Marcelo Elusich used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Brandon Heredia (180-85, college: Lon Morris JC) answered with 26 points and 6 rebounds and American-Venezuelan forward Jermaine Walker (198-77, college: Miami, FL) added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Fuerza Guinda Nogales. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Frayles de Guasave maintains third place with 12-9 record having five points less than leader Hermosillo, which they share with Culiacan. Fuerza Guinda Nogales at the other side dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Frayles de Guasave is again looking forward to face Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#5) at home in the next round. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will have a break next round.
