Very expected game when 5th ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (25-20) was defeated on the road by first ranked Okinawa GK (32-15) 81-74 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kyoto Hannaryz won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Okinawa GK won last quarter 21-15. Strangely Kyoto Hannaryz outrebounded Okinawa GK 54-39 including 20 on the offensive glass. Kyoto Hannaryz was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Anthony McHenry (201-83, college: Georgia Tech) fired 24 points and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import swingman Carlos Dixon (202-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Strategic Sports) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago power forward Kibwe Trim (208-84, college: Sacred Heart) added 19 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Okinawa GK have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 32-15 record. Kyoto Hannaryz at the other side keeps the fifth position with 20 games lost. Okinawa GK will face again Kyoto Hannaryz (#5) at home in the next round.
