Third-ranked Fukuoka Rizing (29-18) made lots of trouble for first ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (38-5) in Mikawa on Saturday. Hamamatsu Phoenix managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Fukuoka Rizing. Fukuoka Rizing was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 12-13. Hamamatsu Phoenix forced 22 Fukuoka Rizing turnovers. Strangely Fukuoka Rizing outrebounded Hamamatsu Phoenix 49-33 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St., agency: ACMT) fired 29 points and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. American swingman Michael Parker (200-81, college: Evergreen St.) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds and guard Akitomo Takeno (173-85) added 23 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Hamamatsu Phoenix have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 38-5 record. Fukuoka Rizing at the other side keeps the third position with 18 games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will face again Fukuoka Rizing (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
