Rather expected game when 14th ranked Iraklis (5-20) lost to eleventh ranked Ikaros (10-15) in Kalitheas 68-73 on Saturday. Iraklis was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 23-15 charge of Ikaros, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Kyle McAlarney (183-87, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Ikaros' coach Aris Likogiannis used entire bench in such tough game. Lithuanian guard Arvydas Eitutavicius (188-82, college: American) answered with 22 points and 6 assists and naturalized Serbian swingman Vladimir Petrovic-Stergiou (198-77, agency: BeoExcell) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Iraklis. Four Iraklis players scored in double figures. Ikaros moved-up to tenth place. Iraklis lost sixth consecutive game. Iraklis at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with 20 games lost. Ikaros will face higher ranked Aris (#4) in Thessaloniki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Iraklis will play at home against the league's leader Olympiakos (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
