Regular Season Round 22: Guasave - Nogales 97-100

The most exciting game of round 22 in the CIBACOPA took place in Guasave. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Frayles de Guasave (12-10) to fifth ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (12-10) 100-97 in the game for the fourth place. Frayles de Guasave was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fuerza Guinda Nogales made 8 blocks. American forward Damone Brown (204-79, college: Syracuse) scored 20 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and American-Venezuelan forward Jermaine Walker (198-77, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 26 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 assists and the former international swingman Alonso Izaguirre (200-76) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. Five Fuerza Guinda Nogales and four Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Fuerza Guinda Nogales moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guasave. Fuerza Guinda Nogales is looking forward to face Bomberos de Mexicali (#6) on the road in the next round. Frayles de Guasave will play against Coras de Tepic and is hoping to win this game.
