Regular Season Round 31: Sorgues - St Chamond 76-72

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Sorgues (18-12) defeated at home 15th ranked Saint Chamond (12-18) 76-72 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Saint Chamond was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 24-13 charge of Sorgues, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Sorgues outrebounded Saint Chamond 29-17 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Sorgues especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for center Xavier Pasut (200-84) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Samir Mekad accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Jean-Stephane Rinna (205-83) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Romain Tillon (180-82, agency: ACMT) added 17 points respectively for Saint Chamond in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sorgues have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Sorgues maintains fourth place with 18-12 record, which they share with Brest. Saint Chamond lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Sorgues will meet Souffelweyersheim (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saint Chamond will play against Lievin Basket and hope to secure a win.
