Regular Season Round 31: Roche - Brest 86-87 OT

Seventeenth-ranked Roche (7-23) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Etendard de Brest (18-12) on Saturday. The visitors from Brest managed to secure only one-point victory 87-86. However their fans expected much easier game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Johan Rathieuville (177-85) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 assists. Guard Gary Staelens (189-84) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. American forward Wayne Morris (198-77, college: Shippensburg) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and guard Francisco Bateko (185-84, college: Robert Morris) added 19 points respectively for Roche in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Etendard de Brest moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sorgues. Roche lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth position with 23 games lost. Etendard de Brest will meet at home Vendee Challans (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Roche will play against CFBB (#18) in Paris and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
