Very expected game when 10th ranked Dinamo Sassari (12-15) lost on the road to fifth ranked Air Avellino (14-13) 92-87 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-14. But Dinamo Sassari won third quarter 31-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Air Avellino made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for naturalized Belgian guard Dimitri Lauwers (187-79) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. American forward Omar Thomas (197-82, college: UTEP) contributed with 23 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. American guard James White (198-84, college: Cincinnati, agency: Court Side) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Bosnian-Serbian power forward Vanja Plisnic (207-80, agency: Beo Basket) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Dinamo Sassari. Four Air Avellino and five Dinamo Sassari players scored in double figures. Air Avellino maintains fifth place with 14-13 record, which they share with Cimberio VA. Newly promoted Dinamo Sassari keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Air Avellino will face league's leader Montepaschi Siena on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dinamo Sassari will play against Cimberio Varese (#6).
