Regular Season Round 32: Denain - St Quentin 76-80

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Denain Voltaire (22-9) against seventh ranked Saint-Quentin (18-13) on Saturday night. Host Denain Voltaire was defeated by Saint-Quentin in a tough game in Denain 76-80. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Denain Voltaire won fourth quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Saint-Quentin forced 22 Denain Voltaire turnovers. The winners were led by American guard Keonta Howell (193-85, college: Toledo) who scored that evening 18 points and forward Julien Lesieu (199-83) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds by center Renaud Brocheray (203-80) did not help to save the game for Denain Voltaire. Guard Frederic Minet (187-81) added 19 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Four Denain Voltaire players scored in double figures. Saint-Quentin moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sorgues and St Etienne. Denain Voltaire at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Saint-Quentin will play against league's leader Bordeaux at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Denain Voltaire will play against Le Puy ASMB in Le Puy en Velay and hopes to get back on the winning track.
