SerieA top team - Montepaschi Siena (25-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat sixth ranked Benetton Treviso (15-13) 81-64. The game was mostly controlled by Montepaschi Siena. Benetton Treviso was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Benetton Treviso to just 6 points in first quarter. Montepaschi Siena made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Benetton Treviso turnovers. Strangely Benetton Treviso outrebounded Montepaschi Siena 40-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Lithuanian center Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-79) who scored that evening 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American-FYR Macedonian guard Bo Lester McCalebb (183-85, college: New Orleans) supported him with 15 points and 4 steals. Even 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals by Serbian guard Stefan Markovic (194-88) did not help to save the game for Benetton Treviso. Swingman Alessandro Gentile (198-92) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Montepaschi Siena have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 25-3 record. Benetton Treviso at the other side dropped to the fourth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Air AV. Montepaschi Siena will play against Dinamo Sassari (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Benetton Treviso will play against the league's second-placed Bennet Cantu (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
