The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Optima Gent's (5-23) road loss to eighth ranked Belgacom Liege (10-19) 59-72 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Belgacom Liege. Optima Gent managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Belgacom Liege dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Optima Gent's 22. They outrebounded Optima Gent 36-18 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian center Andrija Stipanovic (208-86) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized DR Congolese swingman Wen Boss Mukubu (198-83, college: UAB, agency: SportsTalent) who added 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American swingman Adam Hall (196-80, college: Virginia) responded with 12 points and international forward Maxime De Zeeuw (205-87, agency: LBM Management) scored 9 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Belgacom Liege maintains eighth position with 10-19 record. Optima Gent at the other side stay dead last with 23 lost games. Belgacom Liege are looking forward to face league's leader Spirou Charleroi on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Optima Gent will play against Dexia Mons-Hainaut (#3) in Quaregnon and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
