Regular Season Round 25: Nogales - Cananea 84-86

Fifth-ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (13-12) gave a tough game to first ranked Mineros de Cananea (20-5) on Friday. The visitors from Cananea managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mineros de Cananea made 9 blocks. American guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) stepped up and scored 31 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in 19 points. At the losing side Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and American-Venezuelan forward Jermaine Walker (198-77, college: Miami, FL) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Mineros de Cananea maintains first place with 20-5 record. Fuerza Guinda Nogales at the other side keep the fifth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Guaymas. Mineros de Cananea will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play again at home against the league's leader Mineros de Cananea (#1) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
