Regular Season Round 24: Amyntas Dafnis - Arkadikos 72-65

An interesting game took place in Athens where higher ranked Arkadikos (13-11) was upset on the court of tenth ranked Amyntas Dafnis (11-13) 72-65. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-18. But Arkadikos won second period 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Amyntas Dafnis won last quarter 23-17. They also forced 19 Arkadikos turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Arkadikos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Kostas Vardavas (193-81) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Savvas Dorkofikis (201-82) contributed with 17 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. Guard Miron Papadakis (183-88) replied with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward Sokrates Gizogiannis (202-82) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Arkadikos. Four Arkadikos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Amyntas Dafnis moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ermis Lagkada. Arkadikos at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Amyntas Dafnis' next round opponent will be Panerythraikos (#14) in New Eritrea where they are favorite.
