Rather expected game in Bertrange where 6th ranked Residence (9-18) was defeated by third ranked Sparta (16-11) 89-80. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-17. But Residence won second period 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sparta made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American forward Lucas Hargrove (198-88, college: Auburn, agency: 540 Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for the winning side and the former international forward Larrie Smith (197-75, college: Tennessee Tech) accounted for 22 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and international swingman Pitt Koster (178-89) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Residence in the defeat. Four Sparta and five Residence players scored in double figures. Sparta maintains third place with 16-11 record having six points less than leader Musel Pikes. Residence lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 18 games lost. Sparta will play against Basket Esch (#5) at home in the next round. Residence will play against Amicale in Steinsel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
