Dinamo Sassari (13-15) outlasted Cimberio Varese (14-14) in overtime by five points 88-83 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cimberio Varese. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cimberio Varese won third quarter 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Cimberio Varese used huge pressure winning it 24-20 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 12-17. American guard James White (198-84, college: Cincinnati, agency: Court Side) fired 31 points and 5 steals for the winners. The other American import guard Travis Diener (183-82, college: Marquette) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Ronald Slay (203-81, college: Tennessee, agency: David Lee services) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and center Diego Fajardo (208-76, agency: Players Group) added 16 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dinamo Sassari moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Lottomatica and Scavolini PS. Loser Cimberio Varese dropped to the sixth position with 14 games lost. They share it with CS Bologna. Dinamo Sassari will meet at home league's leader Montepaschi Siena in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cimberio Varese will play against Fabi Shoes Montegranaro (#13) and hope to secure a win.
