Sixth-ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (15-14) were very close to win a game against third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (20-9) on Friday. Rayos de Hermosillo managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected easier game. Rayos de Hermosillo made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rayos de Hermosillo made 13 blocks. American center Marquise Gray (206-86, college: Michigan St.) saved the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Jordanian-American swingman Jamal Abu-Shamala (196-87, college: Minnesota) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Abu-Shamala is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Craig Winder (188-84, college: Texas, agency: Prossin Sports Management) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Anthony Pedroza Durazo added 23 points in the effort for Ostioneros de Guaymas. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rayos de Hermosillo moved-up to second place. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo are again looking forward to face Ostioneros de Guaymas (#6) at home in the next round.
