Regular Season Round 33: Le Portel - Clermont 86-65

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Le Portel (18-15) smashed at home 17th ranked Stade Clermont (10-23) 86-65 on Friday. The game without a history. Le Portel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Le Portel outrebounded Stade Clermont 49-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Austen Rowland (186-81, college: Lehigh, agency: Court Side) who had a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. His fellow American import swingman Chris Davis (196-80, college: N.Texas, agency: Court Side) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Le Portel players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard O'Darien Bassett (188-86, college: Troy, agency: Basket Law/NM Services) who recorded 25 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Xavier Delarue (196-77) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Stade Clermont's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Le Portel moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Chalons-Reims and Maurienne. Loser Stade Clermont keeps the seventeenth position with 23 games lost. Le Portel will face higher ranked SPO Rouen (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stade Clermont will play against Fos Ouest (#4).
