Second Stage Round 12: Cibona - KK Split 96-78

Everything could happen in Zagreb at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Cibona and 5th ranked KK Split had identical 5-6 record. This time Cibona used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Split 96-78 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Cibona. KK Split managed to win second period 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding KK Split to just 7 points in third quarter. Cibona made 31-of-35 free shots (88.6 percent) during the game, while KK Split only scored nine points from the stripe. Cibona forced 20 KK Split turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of international swingman Bojan Bogdanovic (202-89) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international power forward Tomislav Zubcic (214-90, agency: Beo Basket) who added 13 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Toni Katic (185-92) with 18 points and 5 assists and guard Luka Babic (200-91) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 6-6 record. Loser KK Split keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Cibona will meet Alkar Sinj (#7) on the road in the next round. KK Split will play against KK Zagreb CO and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
