No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Antwerp Giants (16-14) defeated at home bottom-ranked Optima Gent (5-25) 69-61. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-14. But Optima Gent won third quarter 27-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Antwerp Giants dominated on the defensive end, holding Optima Gent to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Optima Gent's 24. It was a very good performance for American guard Michael Roll (196-87, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import forward Darnell Wilson (198-85, college: Canisius, agency: Court Side) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Guard Senne Geukens (190-83) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Monwell Randle (203-83, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Optima Gent. Antwerp Giants maintains fifth position with 16-14 record. Optima Gent lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Antwerp Giants will play against Leuven Bears (#6) on the road in the next round. Optima Gent will play against VOO Verviers-Pepinster and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
