There was no surprise when 7th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (10-20) was defeated on the road by second ranked Okapi Aalstar (21-10) 103-88. The game was mostly controlled by Okapi Aalstar. VOO Verviers-Pepinster was better in third quarter 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Okapi Aalstar made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Alex Ruoff (198-86, college: W.Virginia) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 4 assists. The other American import forward Christopher Copeland (203-84, college: Colorado, agency: 540 Sports) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Rashaun Freeman (206-84, college: Massachusetts) replied with 28 points and 7 rebounds and Georgian swingman Tornike Shengelia (205-91) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for VOO Verviers-Pepinster. Five Okapi Aalstar and four VOO Verviers-Pepinster players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Okapi Aalstar maintains second position with 21-10 record having just two points less than leader Charleroi. VOO Verviers-Pepinster lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Liege. Okapi Aalstar will play against Belgacom Liege (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. VOO Verviers-Pepinster will play against Optima Gent and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
