There was no surprise when 10th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (3-28) were crushed at home by third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (21-10) 108-79. Rayos de Hermosillo dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros Los Mochis' 46 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Pioneros Los Mochis 53-26 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rayos de Hermosillo brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American center Marquise Gray (206-86, college: Michigan St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Lorrenzo Wade (198-85, college: San Diego St.) accounted for 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach Dan Tacheny felt very confident that he used 10 players saving starting five for next games. Forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) came up with 19 points and guard Juan Favela (183-91) added 17 points respectively for Pioneros Los Mochis in the defeat.
