The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Mineros de Cananea (25-9) on the court of fourth ranked Frayles de Guasave on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Frayles de Guasave in overtime 95-94. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mineros de Cananea won third quarter 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Mineros de Cananea used huge pressure winning it 20-13 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 11-12. Frayles de Guasave looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Frayles de Guasave made 17 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 13 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Rasheem Barrett (196-87, college: Auburn, agency: SportsList Inc.) chipped in 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocks during the contest. Funn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) scored 23 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Frayles de Guasave maintains fourth position with 20-14 record. Mineros de Cananea at the other side still keeps top place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
