Regular Season Round 34: CAI Zaragoza - Lucentum 90-86
Date: May 15, 2011
Very expected game when 16th ranked Meridiano Alicante (9-25) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked CAI Zaragoza (16-18) 90-86 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 32-19. But Meridiano Alicante won third quarter 22-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CAI Zaragoza shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Andres Miso (199-83, college: Colegio Ecole, agency: Interperformances) fired 23 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Argentinian-Italian guard Paolo Quinteros (186-79) chipped in 17 points. American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier) produced 25 points and 6 rebounds and Slovakian power forward Martin Rancik (204-78, college: Iowa St.) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Meridiano Alicante players scored in double figures. Meridiano Alicante's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. CAI Zaragoza moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Estudiantes and Cajasol. Loser Meridiano Alicante keeps the sixteenth position with 25 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
