Rather predictable result when second ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (25-10) defeated at home 5th ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (19-16) 83-66. Ostioneros de Guaymas were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Ostioneros de Guaymas 32-19 including 20 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard David Meza Rogel (187-85, college: Arizona W. CC) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 6 assists. American guard Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Five Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. The former international guard Anthony Pedroza (191-79, college: Oregon, agency: Edge Sports) came up with 23 points and 5 blocks and power forward Fernando Benitez (204-89) added 13 points respectively for Ostioneros de Guaymas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Caballeros de Culiacan have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 25-10 record behind leader Cananea. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side keep the fifth position with 16 games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan will again play against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#5) at home in the next round. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round.
