CIBACOPA top team - Mineros de Cananea (26-9) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat seventh ranked Bomberos de Mexicali (16-19) 114-102. The game was mostly controlled by Mineros de Cananea. Bomberos de Mexicali managed to win fourth quarter 33-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mineros de Cananea shot 64.2 percent from the field and made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) helped adding 28 points and 9 assists. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mineros de Cananea's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international power forward Hugo Carrillo (205-83) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Michael Gale (193-82, college: Centenary) scored 25 points and 4 assists. Five Bomberos de Mexicali players scored in double figures. Mineros de Cananea maintains first place with 26-9 record. Bomberos de Mexicali at the other side keeps the seventh position with 19 games lost. Mineros de Cananea are again looking forward to face Bomberos de Mexicali (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bomberos de Mexicali will have a break next round.
