The game in Guaymas supposed to be also quite interesting. 4th placed Frayles de Guasave (22-15) played at the court of fifth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (20-17). Ostioneros de Guaymas smashed Frayles de Guasave 134-94 on Friday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Frayles de Guasave. The game was mostly controlled by Ostioneros de Guaymas. Frayles de Guasave managed to win second period 32-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ostioneros de Guaymas dominated down low during the game scoring 96 of its points in the paint compared to Frayles de Guasave's 46. They outrebounded Frayles de Guasave 42-20 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ostioneros de Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Frayles de Guasave's players. American guard Richard Roby (198-85) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Craig Winder (188-84, college: Texas, agency: Prossin Sports Management) accounted for 28 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach Eduardo Opezzo felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Kevin Sowell (190-81) came up with 52 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and guard Jorge Acosta (190-79) added 18 points and 5 assists respectively for Frayles de Guasave in the defeat. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains fifth place with 20-17 record. Frayles de Guasave at the other side keeps the fourth position with 15 games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas will again meet at home higher ranked Frayles de Guasave (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
