CIBACOPA top team - Mineros de Cananea (28-9) added another victory to their record. This time they beat tenth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (4-33) 118-110. The guests were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 28-24 Pioneros Los Mochis' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 118-110 at the end of the game. Mineros de Cananea dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros Los Mochis' 44. American guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) stepped up and scored 46 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) chipped in 29 points and 15 rebounds. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mineros de Cananea's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international swingman Raymundo Castillo (197-82, college: UTPA) scored 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mineros de Cananea. They maintain first place with 28-9 record. Pioneros Los Mochis lost their fifth game in a row. They stay dead last with 33 lost games. Mineros de Cananea will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play again at home against the league's leader Mineros de Cananea (#1) and hope to get back on the winning track.
