CIBACOPA top team - Mineros de Cananea (29-9) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat tenth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (4-34) 101-93. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-20. But Pioneros Los Mochis won second period 27-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mineros de Cananea dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros Los Mochis' 48. They outrebounded Pioneros Los Mochis 44-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. American forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 21 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) chipped in 23 points and 7 assists during the contest. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mineros de Cananea's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Raymundo Castillo (197-82, college: UTPA) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Mineros de Cananea have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 29-9 record. Pioneros Los Mochis lost sixth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 34 lost games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
