Regular Season Round 29: Olimpiada - Periko/Arhelaos 81-82

There was a minor upset in Patras where 10th ranked Olimpiada (12-17) was edged by twelfth ranked Periko/Arhelaos (12-17) 82-81 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Olimpiada won fourth quarter 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Periko/Arhelaos made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Giannis Papachristos (194-80) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Center Giannis Maltesios (206-85) chipped in 13 points. Periko/Arhelaos' coach Costas Sorotos allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Sakis Veskoukis (195-80) produced 27 points and center Apostolos Koutroulias (206-76) added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Olimpiada players scored in double figures. Periko/Arhelaos moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Pagrati and Olimpiada. Periko/Arhelaos will face higher ranked Lavrio (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
