Regular Season Round 30: AGOR - AEK/Argous 101-85

Very predictable result in Rethymno where second ranked AGOR (20-10) beat 9th ranked AEK/Argous (14-16) 101-85. It looked good early as AEK/Argous took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then AGOR had a 26-16 second period charge getting the lead and AEK/Argous was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-101. Serbian center Damir Latovic (204-80) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Nikos Theodorakos (202-89) supported him with 14 points. Even 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by American-Icelandic guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln, MO) did not help to save the game for AEK/Argous. Guard Giorgos Kopsaftis (192-84) added 21 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. AGOR maintains second position with 20-10 record having six points less than leader KAOD. Newly promoted AEK/Argous keeps the ninth place with 16 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
