Regular Season Round 4: Volcanes - Abejas 88-109

LNBP top team - Abejas (4-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked Volcanes (0-4) in Toluca 109-88. The game was mostly controlled by Abejas. Volcanes was better in fourth quarter 30-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Abejas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Volcanes' 44. They outrebounded Volcanes 44-21 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Abejas players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of Salvadorean-American power forward James Valladares (205-89, college: New Hampshire) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds and American-Jamaican forward Mattis McHugh (198-84, college: S.Florida) who added 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Abejas players scored in double figures. Abejas' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Carlos M. Toussaint (190-91) responded with 30 points and 5 assists and American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) scored 20 points and 5 assists. Abejas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Barreteros. Volcanes at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Lechugueros. Abejas will play against Lechugueros (#13) in Leon in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Volcanes will play on the road against Halcones Rojos in Veracruz and hope to get finally their first victory.
