We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Sorocabana where eleventh ranked L.S.B. (4-6) defeated 10th ranked Americana (3-6) 77-71 on Wednesday. Americana trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 22-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 71-77 at the end of the game. L.S.B. forced 24 Americana turnovers. Strangely Americana outrebounded L.S.B. 40-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Fabricio Russo (196-85) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Five L.S.B. players scored in double figures. L.S.B.'s coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Alfredo Perandini (197-75) produced 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Everton Moraes (196-87) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. L.S.B. moved-up to tenth place. Americana at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Jacarei. L.S.B. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Americana will play on the road against Pinheiros/Sky (#6) in Sao Paolo and is hoping to win this game.
