Halcones UV Xalapa's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they outplayed much higher ranked Pioneros (3-2) 107-73. The game without a history. Halcones UV Xalapa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros' 38 and made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Halcones UV Xalapa players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Pioneros' players. American guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) stepped up and scored 19 points and 7 assists for the winners and the former international center Adam Parada (213-81, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. American forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) responded with 19 points and the former international swingman Romel Beck (203-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) scored 20 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones UV Xalapa (1-3) left bottom position moving up to ninth place. Pioneros at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Soles and Huracanes. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against bottom-ranked Volcanes (#14) in Toluca in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Pioneros will play on the road against Halcones Rojos (#5) in Veracruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
