Regular Season Round 8: Abejas - Barreteros 74-75

The most exciting game of round 8 in the LNBP took place in Guanajuato. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Abejas (5-2) to first ranked Barreteros (7-1) 75-74 on Wednesday evening. The guests trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 26-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Jamaican forward Mugabe Thomas (193-80, college: Cedarville) saved the victory by scoring 19 points. American forward Chaz Twan Briggs (201-80, college: W.Virginia) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Barreteros' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Lorrenzo Wade (198-85, college: San Diego St.) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds and guard Brandon Heredia (180-85, college: Lon Morris JC) added 18 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Abejas. Four Abejas players scored in double figures. Barreteros maintains first position with 7-1 record, which they share with Toros. Abejas at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Halc.Rojos. Barreteros is looking forward to face Fuerza Regia (#3) in Monterrey in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Abejas will play on the road against Halcones UV Xalapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
