The game in Cancun was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Fuerza Regia (6-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Pioneros (4-4). Fuerza Regia defeated Pioneros 100-87. The game was mostly controlled by Fuerza Regia. Pioneros was better in second period 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fuerza Regia dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros' 36. They outrebounded Pioneros 31-19 including 20 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Fuerza Regia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 32 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Chris Roberts (193-88, college: Bradley) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots). American forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) produced 26 points and the former international swingman Romel Beck (203-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia moved-up to third place. Pioneros at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Fuerza Regia's next round opponent will be league's leader Barreteros in Zacatecas and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pioneros will play at home against Volcanes (#14) in Toluca.
