Regular Season Round 9: Pioneros - Volcanes 115-69

Bottom-ranked Volcanes is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to seventh ranked Pioneros (5-4) 115-69 on Friday evening. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Volcanes' 20. They outrebounded Volcanes 44-22 including a 36-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Pioneros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international swingman Romel Beck (203-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) nailed 23 points and 4 assists for the winning side and American point guard Gregory Grays (185-79, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 16 points and 6 assists. Five Pioneros players scored in double figures. Pioneros' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) came up with 17 points and 8 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Zachery Alvidres added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Volcanes in the defeat. Pioneros maintains seventh place with 5-4 record. Loser Volcanes still closes the standings with nine games lost. Pioneros will again meet at home bottom-ranked Volcanes (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Volcanes will have a break next round.
