The game between Top Four teams took place in Zacatecas. Third ranked host Barreteros (8-2) defeated their biggest opponent Toros (7-3) 78-74. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Toros won second period 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Barreteros had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Toros' players. Jamaican forward Mugabe Thomas (193-80, college: Cedarville) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Melvin Council (191-82, college: Robert Morris) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international forward Jesus Lopez (205-83, college: SW Baptist) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Barreteros and five Toros players scored in double figures. Barreteros keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fuerza Regia. Toros at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Barreteros is looking forward to face Panteras (#12) in Aguascalientes in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Toros will play at home against Abejas (#7) in Guanajuato and are hoping to win this game.
