Date: September 29, 2011
Very significant was Ulriken's (1-0) victory against bottom-ranked Gimle (0-1) 88-45. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. Ulriken led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gimle to just 6 points in second quarter. Ulriken dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Gimle's 34. Ulriken forced 45 Gimle turnovers. International guard Emilie Gronas (168-92) nailed 30 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for the winning side and guard Stine Hoff Austgulen (177-94) accounted for 27 points and 6 rebounds. Ulriken's coach DuRell Sanford felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lithuanian forward Sarune Jasiunskaite (188-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks and point guard Amanda Gran (174-93) added 4 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Gimle in the defeat. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Despite that victory Ulriken went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with Ammerud. Gimle at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Oslo Tigers. Ulriken will play against league's leader Ullern in Oslo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gimle will have a break next round.
