The biggest surprise of round 18 was guest Winner/Limeira's (#2) road victory over Vivo/Franca (#4) 89-82 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vivo/Franca. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-82. The best player for the winners was Dominican-American guard Ronald Ramon (185-86, college: Pittsburgh) who scored 27 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Biro Alves (200-87) chipped in 19 points. Winner/Limeira's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Babby Araujo (211-80, college: BYU) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Fernando Penna (189-83) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. Winner/Limeira have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record having just three points less than leader Itabom/Bauru, which they share with S.Jose/Vinac. Vivo/Franca at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Pinheiros/Sky. Winner/Limeira is looking forward to face Inter Santos (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vivo/Franca will play against Araraquara (#8) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
