Regular Season Round 2: Forca Lleida - CB Tarragona 75-70
Date: September 30, 2011
There was no surprise when bottom-ranked CB Tarragona 2017 (0-2) was defeated on the road by top-ranked Lleida Basquet (2-0) 75-70 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 5 points. Lleida Basquet made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Ivorian-American forward Jonathan Kale (203-85, college: Providence) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American-Croatian guard Marcus Norris (185-74, college: Ball St., agency: SportsTalent) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. American forward Jonathan Mitchell (200-87, college: Rutgers) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Roburt Sallie (196-86, college: Memphis) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Lleida Basquet keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser CB Tarragona 2017 still closes the standings with two games lost. Lleida Basquet will face Grupo Iruna Navarra (#8) in Pamplona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CB Tarragona 2017 will play at home against Palencia Baloncesto (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
