Paulista top team - Itabom/Bauru (12-1) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked Rio Claro (5-8) 91-81. The game was mostly controlled by Itabom/Bauru. Rio Claro managed to win fourth quarter 29-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a quality performance for American guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American power forward Jefferson Agba (209-80, college: Embry Riddle) accounted for 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Alexandre Pinheiro (185-85) came up with 18 points and 6 assists and forward Ulisses Lima (192-85) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Rio Claro in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Itabom/Bauru have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Rio Claro at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Itabom/Bauru will meet Vivo/Franca (#5) in the next round. Rio Claro will play against Inter Santos (#16) and hope to secure a win.
