Regular Season Round 12: Panteras - Barreteros 89-88

The most exciting game of round 12 in the LNBP took place in Aguascalientes. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Barreteros (8-3) to twelfth ranked Panteras (3-8) 89-88 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Barreteros were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Barreteros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Marlyn Bryant (193-82, college: S.Florida) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (180-83, agency: TSS Management) chipped in 21 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Melvin Council (191-82, college: Robert Morris) who recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward James Reaves (203-82, college: Niagara, agency: TSS Management) added 23 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively. Four Barreteros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Panteras moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Lechugueros. Barreteros at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Halc.Xalapa. Panteras is looking forward to face higher ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Barreteros will play against the league's second-placed Halcones Rojos where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
